Fundo monetário internacional e a proteção dos direitos humanos: uma necessária reflexão

O artigo analisa as alterações experimentadas pelo FMI ao longo da história para constatar que não obstante a expansão para horizontes menos financistas, elas ainda estão contaminadas por visões ultrapassadas que restringem sua atuação, em grande medida, a uma análise infrutífera que não considera as demandas reclamadas pelos mais necessitados. Nesse contexto, uma atuação mais proativa em defesa da proteção dos direitos humanos encontra-se amesquinhada pela falta de previsão institucional do tema e em decorrência da falta de responsabilidade institucional como se a atuação do FMI não decorresse de sua ínsita relação com as Nações Unidas.
